Discover the heartwarming story of historical solidarity and enduring friendship between Israel and the Philippines that has shaped a legacy of kindness.

A Shared History of Compassion

At Mountain View Resort, we believe that true wellness stems from connection—not just to nature, but to the powerful stories of humanity that remind us of our collective strength. Today, we reflect on the remarkable and enduring bond between the Philippines and Israel, a relationship built on the foundation of moral courage and mutual respect.

A Haven in Times of Need

Long before formal diplomatic ties were established, the Philippines demonstrated profound empathy. During the mid-20th century, when many nations turned their backs on those fleeing persecution, the Philippines became a beacon of hope. President Manuel L. Quezon, alongside American High Commissioner Paul McNutt and the visionary Frieder family, orchestrated a life-saving mission to welcome over a thousand German and Austrian Jewish refugees.

This act of humanity wasn't just a political decision; it was a testament to the Filipino spirit of hospitality and kindness. As President Quezon famously remarked, opening the country's doors was simply "the right thing to do." The Frieder brothers went above and beyond, providing jobs, building shelters, and fostering a community where refugees could thrive despite the darkness spreading across the globe.

Standing Together on the World Stage

This profound connection continued to flourish in the political arena. In 1947, the Philippines held a unique place in history as the only Asian nation to vote in favor of UN Resolution 181, which recommended the establishment of the State of Israel. This courageous stance set the stage for the formal friendship we celebrate today.

Following the signing of the Treaty of Friendship on February 26, 1958, the two nations solidified their commitment to one another. By 1962, embassies were opened in both Manila and Tel Aviv, marking the beginning of decades of cooperation, cultural exchange, and deep-rooted brotherhood.

Celebrating Enduring Bonds

As we look back on this history, we are reminded that our actions—whether as individuals or nations—create ripples of change that last for generations.
